Richard Bruton Minister for Education and Skills has announced that Computer Science will be introduced as an optional Leaving Certificate subject from 2018. Bruton has added that in the new 'digital learning framework' coding skills will become part of the primary school maths curriculum. These introductions are part of the new Digital Strategy for Schools 2015-2020 Action Plan to develop the practice of digital technologies. To facilitate this plan, they will invest €180 million in upgrading ICT Information and Computer Technology facilities in schools over the next four years.
