Last week, 8th of June, we enjoyed another Digital Marketing workshop by Conor Boyce to help Donegal SMEs boost their businesses online. This time it was facilitated at the Donegal Town Public Service Centre, space provided by Donegal County Council.

Conor Boyce, with nearly thirty years of experience in the sector, started with the statement that people are spending on average 5h a day online in front of a screen. From the business point of view, he insists the objective should be to reach out and engage with them.

As a professional that want to boost the business online, Conor says you need to acquire a strategic mindset. You also need an understanding of digital skills and technologies. “It's like building the house, the foundation needs to be right”. In addition, clients are checking companies online before buying their products or contacting them. He highlighted that the significance of getting this right or wrong is enormous.

Before starting to identify all the Digital Marketing Planning Steps to follow, Conor defined 5 main types of businesses which will have different objectives, and therefore, different digital strategies. However, he added that regardless of the type of business, until you do not define your unique value proposition you cannot start defining objectives. And what does it mean? It is “what makes you unique in the eyes of the customer”. Conor pointed out that “a new client that just landed on your website should be able to identify it in less than 5 seconds”.

He ended talking about the importance of analysing the insights and of using Google Analytics. Understanding the data lets you make the difference, that is why you should segment your traffic and try to find patterns. He also explained the success of acquisition, how to maximise conversion rates and the importance of building engagement, retention and loyalty.

It was a full attendance morning with local companies such as An Seomra Ceoil, All Sports, Anchor Dive Lights, Cara Pharmacy & Beauty, Donegal Town Hardware, Function1 Guidance, Hanna Hats of DonegalPeters the Man Shop, Proper Price Toymaster, Stella Boutique and the freelancer Cronan Scanlon.

If you haven’t attended yet and don’t want to miss another chance: next workshops will be in Gweedore and Buncrana. If you want more information or register, please, contact us here.
