Last week, 8th of June, we enjoyed another Digital Marketing workshop by Conor Boyce to help Donegal SMEs boost their businesses online. This time it was facilitated at the Donegal Town Public Service Centre, space provided by Donegal County Council.
Conor Boyce, with nearly thirty years of experience in the sector, started with the statement that people are spending on average 5h a day online in front of a screen. From the business point of view, he insists the objective should be to reach out and engage with them.
As a professional that want to boost the business online, Conor says you need to acquire a strategic mindset. You also need an understanding of digital skills and technologies. “It's like building the house, the foundation needs to be right”. In addition, clients are checking companies online before buying their products or contacting them. He highlighted that the significance of getting this right or wrong is enormous.
Before starting to identify all the Digital Marketing Planning Steps to follow, Conor defined 5 main types of businesses which will have different objectives, and therefore, different digital strategies. However, he added that regardless of the type of business, until you do not define your unique value proposition you cannot start defining objectives. And what does it mean? It is “what makes you unique in the eyes of the customer”. Conor pointed out that “a new client that just landed on your website should be able to identify it in less than 5 seconds”.
