Donegal Digital partners Donegal County Council and Údarás na Gaeltachta have secured funding with The Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) to develop a number of integrated measures in Buncrana and to progress the Northwest Bioeconomy Hub in Cill Ulta /Killult. 

The funding has been announced by the Minister for Rural and Community Development Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, who has informed that €21.5 million will be allocated for 27 landmark regeneration projects nationwide.

Donegal County Council has secured €1,169,396 with the 'Repowering Buncrana A NW Place Standard Project' to strengthen the shore front, enhance walking and cycling, provide quality shore front amenities and integrate art and biodiversity into the urban landscape. The project aims to transform the centre of Buncrana and enable the town to be a vibrant, liveable, diverse and competitive centre of scale. It will optimise digital connectivity and support employment and careers in rural areas.

Furthermore, The '
Cill Ulta: Northwest Bioeconomy Hub', with €196,119 funding secured by Údarás na Gaeltachta, will develop plans for this Hub that will provide state of the art facilities and create sustainable employment opportunities in the bioeconomy sectors. It will include enterprise units, hot desk facilities, education and meeting facilities and will facilitate a member’s hub, bioeconomy corridor and cross border engagement. The Northwest Bioeconomy Hub will also support employment and careers in rural areas revitalising rural towns and villages.
